Stewart Coutts MSc PhD FIA

Stewart pioneered the use of actuarial techniques in pricing both commercial and personal lines of business. He was also one of the prime movers in the development of Dynamic Financial Analysis (DFA). Stewart has worked with Russell Devitt (see below) on a number of Board level projects, such as cash flow analysis and asset and liability modeling, in the international marketplace. Stewart is now working on the use of actuarial methodology in the field of insurance regulation and linking this to return on capital at both regulatory and actual levels.

Russell Devitt MSc FCCA FCII

Russell has held a number of senior positions in the company market, the last one as CEO of Direct Line Life. His experience is particularly valuable in areas of business development and customer relationship management (CRM). He is a member of the Institute of Actuaries' working party on operational risk in general insurance and the Vice Chairman of the Research Board of Tomorrow's Company, a think tank that explores, with businesses, better ways of sustaining success.

John Murray FCII

For the last eight years of his company market career John was Managing Director and later Chairman of Zurich Municipal, having led its rescue from the failed Municipal Mutual and its subsequent transformation into one of the top performing businesses in the Zurich group. He was also Chairman of Zurich's UK general insurance risk committee. In addition, John spent twenty years with NFU Mutual, the last five as Underwriting Director. His main specialisms are business performance improvement, enhanced underwriting capability, alternative distribution channel development and alternative risk transfer (ART).
